Morse code converter

Turn text into Morse code, or Morse back into text — as you type, with no upload.

Word separator

How to use it

  1. Pick a direction: Text → Morse or Morse → Text. The conversion happens as you type — no button to press.
  2. Type or paste your text, or Morse code. Clearing the box resets the result instantly (R6).
  3. Use “Sample” to fill in an example, and Copy or Download to save the result.
  4. Turn on “Play sound” to hear the Morse as short (dot) and long (dash) beeps — it only plays locally, in your browser.

Example

Text

Hello, world!

Morse code

.... . .-.. .-.. --- --..-- / .-- --- .-. .-.. -.. -.-.--

Letters are separated by a space and words by “ / ”. Morse has no upper/lower case, so decoded text comes back in capitals.

Rules, limits and known issues

  • Strict ITU standard only: A–Z, 0–9 and a defined set of punctuation. Characters outside that set (Chinese, Arabic, emoji) are reported as errors, never silently dropped.
  • Morse does not carry case, so decoded text is always upper-case.
  • On decode, words may be separated by “/”, “|” or a new line — all are accepted.
  • Size limit 50,000 characters. Nothing is uploaded, stored, written to the URL or shared: the share button only shares this page address.
  • The “Play sound” button uses your browser’s audio and plays once; it is a demonstration, not a professional telegraph key.
