Random picker

Drop in a list, set how many to draw, and the pick appears — no button required, re-roll any time.

How to use it

  1. Put each candidate on its own line in the box above — names, tasks, anything. Blank lines are skipped automatically.
  2. Set how many to draw, then the result shows up right away as you type or change the number. “Pick again” rolls a fresh set without changing your list.
  3. Leave “Allow repeats” off to draw distinct items; turn it on to let the same item appear more than once. Copy the result or download it as a .txt file.

Example

Settings

Number to pick: 3 · Allow repeats: off
Candidates:
Alice
Bob
Carol
Dave

One possible result

Bob
Carol
Alice

The result is random, so the order and the exact three names will differ each time. Check the shape instead: three lines, all distinct, all taken from your list. With “Allow repeats” on, the same name can show up twice.

Scope, limits and common questions

  • Drawing happens locally in your browser from crypto.getRandomValues — not a physical “true random” source. Nothing is uploaded, stored or put into the URL.
  • One candidate per line. A line that is only spaces is treated as blank and skipped; the text of a real candidate is kept exactly as you typed it (including leading/trailing spaces).
  • Your list is not de-duplicated for you: writing “Apple” twice means two separate candidates. “Allow repeats” only controls whether one item can appear more than once in a single draw.
  • With repeats off, asking for more items than you have candidates draws all of them and says so — it never invents new entries.
  • No wheel, weights, saved lists or shareable links with your data — those would mean storing or transmitting the list, which this tool does not do.
  • Very large lists (over 200,000 characters) still work; updates just arrive a beat later.
