Lorem Ipsum generator

Three paragraphs of placeholder text are ready — pick paragraphs, sentences or words and the text is replaced as you drag.

3

How to use it

  1. The page opens with three paragraphs already made — take them as they are, or drag “Amount” and the text is replaced on the spot.
  2. Pick the counting unit: paragraphs (1–10), sentences (1–30) or words (5–200, in steps of 5). Each unit remembers the amount you last used for it.
  3. “Start with ‘Lorem ipsum…’” keeps the canonical opening sentence at the very start. Turn it off when the placeholder must not look like the textbook sample — the sentence then leaves the pool entirely.
  4. “Wrap paragraphs in <p> tags” changes only how the current text is written out, not the words themselves. Copy or download it when it looks right; reloading gives a new sample.

Only the first sentence is fixed: with the classic opening on it is always that same Latin line. The other sentences are shuffled from a 32-sentence corpus, so your word and character counts will differ — check the first sentence, the paragraph count, and the numbers in the stats line instead.

Rules, limits and known issues

  • The output is always Latin Lorem Ipsum. Chinese, Arabic or Japanese filler text needs its own corpus and punctuation rules, so it is not faked here — the interface is translated, the placeholder text is not.
  • This is not a Latin grammar engine. Sentences come from a fixed corpus of 32 lines, so long outputs repeat and no sentence is composed on the fly.
  • Units are paragraphs (1–10), sentences (1–30) and words (5–200 in steps of 5). Paragraphs contain 3–6 sentences each; sentences and words produce a single paragraph.
  • The classic opening is one fixed sentence. Turning it off removes it from the pool entirely, so it does not appear anywhere in the result.
  • “Words” takes the first N words from the sentence stream and ends the last word with a period. It can therefore stop mid-sentence, and the closing punctuation is added rather than copied.
  • The <p> toggle writes literal <p> and </p> text around each paragraph: it never creates real HTML elements on the page. Only the plain <p> form is offered — no class, id or custom tags.
  • Word and character counts ignore the <p> tags and all whitespace. Copying the text into a tool that counts bytes or full-width characters will give different numbers.
  • No byte counts, no list markers, and no typography controls (font, size, line-height, alignment). Set those in your own CSS or design tool.
  • Randomness comes from Math.random() and is used only to shuffle sentences. It is not a secure random source: do not use this tool for passwords, tokens or anything that must be unpredictable.
  • Everything happens in the browser: no upload, no account, no localStorage and nothing in the URL. Reloading the page discards the text.
  • There is no history or undo. “Reset” restores the defaults and generates a new sample rather than bringing back the previous one.
